Is this online course for me? The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages, including providing ventilation with barrier devices, a bag-mask device with oxygen and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); along with relief of a foreign-body airway obstruction.  This course is intended for licensed and non-licensed healthcare professionals. 

There are TWO parts the the American Heart Association Heartcode Blended BLS course:

  • Part - 1  Online blended link provided after registration via email; complete the online training in the comfort of your own home or office.  Online simulation a learning experience is anywhere from (1 to 3 hours)   
  • Part - 2   In-person skills session at one of our regularly scheduled training locations.  Manikan practice and skills testing is 45 - 60 minutes. 

You will recieve your American Heart Association BLS certification eCard within 48 hours.   

The American Heart Association BLS Instructor Course certifies the participant to teach the BLS for Healthcare Providerse (BLS) Course, renewal course, and BLS Skill Sessions.  In addition, instructors may teach all the AHA Heartsaver programs including: adult CPR, child CPR, infant CPR, AED use, first aid, pediatric CPR/first aid, and bloodborne pathogens.  BLS Instructor certification is valid for a period of two (2) years.

The BLS Instructor Part A & B as well as monitoring of your first class as required by the AHA. Instructor candidates will need to teach a class while being monitored by the AHA Training Site Faculty member within 6-months of taking the CPR instructor course. Once all the steps are successfully completed, the participant will become an American Heart Association BLS Instructor and be able to conduct classes on their own.   

The classroom portion covers American Heart Association procedures, course guidelines and agendas, instructor challenges, classroom set-up, learning theory, administrative support, and instructor-candidate teaching demonstrations.  Drinks and refreshments will be provided.
